• Comply with the sprit as well as the letter of environmental, health and safety legislation and approved codes of practice.

• Recognise the hierarchy of preferred solutions for waste management. Minimisation, reuse and recycling of materials and energy from waste whenever economically viable.

• Incorporate the principles of Best Practicable Environmental Option (BPEO) in choice of waste treatment and disposal routes, and best available techniques not entailing excessive cost (BATNEEC) in choice of treatment and disposal methodologies.

• Manage the company’s operations in a way that minimises hazards to the environment, employees and a wider community.

• Safe technologies and operating procedures will be used, and emergency plans maintained and tested. Minimise the environmental effects of the new developments through effective planning and using environmental assessments where appropriate.

• Promote an understanding of environmental issues amongst employees, customers, suppliers and local communities by appropriate training and education.
