Plant Maintenance Engineer

Hours: 50 hours per week - any 5 from 7 days, including hours as required by the needs of the business

Location: Ashford, although you will be required to be mobile

Reporting to: Directors, Ashford Depot Manager

Liaising with: Directors and Divisional Managers through to all levels of staff


  • Servicing, repair and maintenance of sewage treatment plants and pumping stations
  • Attending emergency breakdowns when required
  • Planned maintenance schedule adhered to
  • Stock ordering
  • Installation and servicing of plant
  • Supply and fit manhole lids as required
  • Jetwash domestic blockages for customers and contractors when required
  • Compiling service reports and maintenance schedules
  • Liaising with customers and clients to ensure a first class service is provided
  • Assess and advise customers on problems and improvements regarding cesspools, septic tanks and treatment plants


  • Experience within the water industry or environmental sector would be desirable
  • IT literate and in particular, familiar with Microsoft Office
  • Dealing with customers professionally


  • Good communicator, able to provide clear oral and written advice to field teams and management as required
  • Organising and planning skills to ensure work programmes are established and followed
  • Able to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Reliable, responsible, numerate and commercially aware
  • Receptive to training and new ways of working
  • Work consistently to high standards of quality, health and safety
