Our confined space teams are typically used for cleaning digester tanks, storm tanks, deep wet wells, man-entry trunk sewers, industrial vessels and many more. Our crews have the skills, experience and resources to clean any type, size and depth of tank.
Safety is key to everything we do at MTS and our confined space operatives are trained to City and Guilds standard (6150-03).
Each entry team is supported by a City and Guilds qualified rescue crew, all certified for First Aid and Stretcher Rescue. One of our rescue crews was recently given an on-the-spot test of their abilities by one of our key customers and emerged with flying colours.
Our entry crews use specialist umbilical breathing apparatus which has helped to eliminate many of the risks involved in this kind of work. The units comprise a self-contained, fully mobile, triple filtered air system which is designed to deliver breathing quality compressed air. There is no need for heavy and bulky bottled working sets.
This mobile breathing system has a fully automatic back-up system and is ideal for our crews who work in hazardous atmospheres. An added benefit is that several operatives can use the breathing unit at one time, enabling the teams to work more quickly and save costs for our customers.
All our confined space entry equipment is kept in pristine condition and is calibrated and certified every six months. This includes tripods, harnesses, lines, fall arrestors and gas monitors.

Our excellent standards and achievements in health and safety at work have been recognised by a number of national accreditation bodies, including two Gold Awards from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
