We’re proud to be the lead sponsor of the 2018 Gravesend and Rochester Ploughing Match.
The event is hosted by The Lettuce Company and organised by the Gravesend and Rochester Agricultural Association at Tudor Farm, Stoke Road, Upper Stoke, Rochester, Kent ME3 9SF. Events are scheduled throughout the day on Saturday 22 September, from 10am.
MTS are delighted to support this local event celebrating the farming community and traditional rural skills.
We have worked with the farming community over many years to create land banks where we can recycle sludge (a by-product of the sewage treatment process) to agricultural land. This is the most sustainable disposal option for these bio-solids which can also reduce the need for artificial fertiliser and improve soil structure.
The Ploughing Match is a great family day out. As well as the conventional and vintage ploughing competitions, there are also many other events and attractions for everyone to enjoy.
The competition tent features craft and cookery exhibits, all of which are competing for keenly fought prizes. Look out for the stewards around the showground selling tickets for the Ladies’ Raffle which offers a great selection of prizes to be won.
Falconry demonstrations and terrier racing are new for this year’s event. Duck herding is a regular favourite, as are displays by gun dogs and the Bolebroke Beagles.
The children’s gymkhana commences at 10am in the ring with the full schedule available in the printed programme available on the day.
Don’t miss the displays of vintage machinery, horse and steam ploughing.
Children and adults alike will enjoy browsing the wide variety of trade stands, food stalls and locally grown fresh farm produce for sale. Wash down your venison burger with a beer from the bar tent run by the Stone Horse public house.
