Biosolids are natural fertilisers from treated sewage sludge.
Treated sewage sludge must meet stringent requirements on quality and safety before it can used on agricultural land. Biosolids offer farmers a high quality alternative to manufactured fertiliser that can supply a large part of the nitrogen and phosphorus required by most crops. It is also a great source of organic matter that improves soil quality.
We work with Southern Water to recycle biosolids on agricultural land in the south east.
Our recycling service includes:
Southern Water incorporates Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) quality assurance systems within its treatment processes. These systems ensure that the required bacterial standards for biosolid products are guaranteed. The recycling process is also fully accredited under the Biosolids Assurance Scheme (BAS), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice guidance.
