MTS celebrates 33 years in business

When Keith Crust and Brian Crust founded MTS Cleansing Services Ltd on 11 August 1986, the average UK house cost £38,500 and the M25 had recently been officially opened by Margaret Thatcher. Chris De Burgh was at the top of the charts with “Lady In Red”.

The UK average wage was £8,430 and a new car cost an average of £6,930, with the diesel to fuel it coming in at the equivalent of 40p per litre.

Originally called Municipal Tanker Services Ltd, the company name was changed in 2000 to reflect the fact that it had long been popularly known as MTS.

Today, Keith Crust is the Company Chairman and Brian Crust is Vice Chairman. The company has seen many changes and developments over the years, but remains family run and now employs more than 400 people.

When it launched, the company served domestic customers in the Medway area of Kent and we continue to offer an unrivalled household service.

As the company has grown, so has our customer base which now includes local authorities, commercial and industrial clients. We use our decades of experience and specialist knowledge to tackle all kinds of drainage-related issues including flooding responseADR (Hazchem) tankering, CCTV condition surveys and a complete repair service including no-dig relining.

Our first major water utility customer was Thames Water who appointed us as a contractor in 2001. In the subsequent years we have become a key provider to the utility sector, expanding our network of depots across the south east and up into the Midlands to support our Tier One contractor work for key clients such as Severn Trent Water, Southern Water, South East Water and Cappagh Browne Utilities Ltd.

We are nothing without our company ethos and our loyal, hardworking staff. Without their support our staff would not be able to dedicate their time to MTS. We will continue to take one load, day, month and year at a time, servicing our clients and looking forward to the 34th year ahead with many exciting strategies to secure the future of the business and staff alike”.
