Blocked gullies stop surface water from draining away and can cause flooding.
Surface water runs into drains, surface water sewers, open water courses and rivers. The water first passes through gullies which have traps to collect leaves, litter, silt and other detritus. The gully traps prevent the detritus from causing a blockage in the drainage system.
Full or blocked gully traps need to be emptied and cleaned so they can continue to work efficiently.
Our crew was recently called to clear a blocked gully on a waterside site for GPS Marine Contractors in Rochester, Kent.
The busy site was live during the works, with forklifts moving and loading engineering materials. To ease access issues, our team used one of our small specialist vehicles, a Rioned mini-combination unit. This jetting tanker is easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces, while still offering powerful jetting capability.
Our team jetted the blocked gully, removing heavy silt and mud. They also washed down the trough supplying the gully to ensure that surface water could flow away freely.
As well as emergency blockage cleaning, we offer regular gully cleaning contract services.
