The MTS Raft Race team had a great day at the Southern Water Charity Day at Bewl Water on 29 July.
Each team of ten people built a raft from scratch and raced in two heats. MTS won the first heat and also came away with a trophy for Best Dressed Raft. All funds raised went to the KSS Air Ambulance, Southern Water’s company charity partner 2016 – 2018.
Steve Gilson, MTS Contracts Director, said; “It was a great family day out and the raft building was quite a challenge. We’re delighted to work with Southern Water to help raise funds for such an excellent charity.”
Other recent fundraising events for KSS Air Ambulance have seen MTS field teams at the Southern Water Endura Go-Kart Challenge and the Charity Golf Day at the Mid-Sussex Golf Club.

MTS are members of the Charity Committee which selected KSS Air Ambulance as Southern Water’s charity partner and also chooses four regional charities to receive grants each year. Southern Water staff vote for their chosen charities in each region (Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and Isle of Wight), then the top two vote-winners make presentations to the Charity Committee who make the final choice.
The Charity Committee met in July and chose the following regional charities to each receive a £10,000 grant for their specified projects below, which will be completed in the next 12 months:
