MTS are the lead sponsor of the annual Gravesend and Rochester area Ploughing Match taking place on Saturday 23 September.
The all-day event is a celebration of ploughing and other traditional agricultural skills, as well as rural crafts, cookery and hobbies.
Vintage, conventional, steam and horse ploughing displays are the highlight of the event which is presented by the Gravesend and Rochester Agricultural Association (GRAA).
The show also features displays of hawking, gun dogs, terrier racing, duck herding and much more. There will be a range of trade stands, including a bar and some tasty offerings from Rochester Country Market and other local producers.
Cookery and craft competitions are open to individuals and families.
The Ploughing Match raises funds in support of the Farm Community Network and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance (KSSAA).
The Farming Community Network is a voluntary organisation and charity that supports farmers and families within the farming community through difficult times. Many of their network of over 400 volunteers across England and Wales are involved in farming, or have close links with agriculture, and therefore have a great understanding of the issues farm workers and farming families regularly face. The confidential national helpline (03000 111 999) and e-helpline (firstname.lastname@example.org) is open every day of the year from 7am-11pm to help with both personal and business- related issues.
The KSSAA operate two aircraft – one from their Marden base in daylight hours, and the other from their Redhill base 24 hours a day. This means that no matter where you are in Kent, Surrey or Sussex, you are never more than 20 minutes away from life-saving care.
MTS Managing Director Antony Crust was made an honorary member of the GRAA in April 2017. Antony said; “The Ploughing Match is a great fun day out with entertainment and competitions for all ages. MTS are proud to sponsor this celebration of traditional rural skills and pastimes.”
The Ploughing Match is held at Newlands Farm in Cliffe, Rochester, Kent ME3 7RU by kind permission of Peter Tickle & Richard Filmer of Allens Hill Farms Ltd. Events start from 9.30am
