Surface Water Management

Clean surface water is the run-off from rooves, driveways and pavements. It’s taken to rivers and the sea by storm water sewers.

In industrial and commercial areas surface water from hard standings and car parks picks up contaminants on its way to the storm water sewers. These contaminants include chemicals, oil, dirt, brake dust and dirt.

Drain interceptors are designed to capture these contaminants and prevent them entering the storm sewers where they can make their way to local water courses. Businesses can face prosecution fines and clean-up costs if found guilty of causing pollution to water courses, so the use of interceptors is key to reducing risk to both the environment and business.

In order to efficiently separate contaminants from water interceptors require regular cleaning and maintenance.

We offer planned maintenance programmes, as well as ad hoc servicing upon request. We clean the interceptor, removing all contaminant material. We can also clear any blockages and give advice on any necessary repairs or maintenance.

Surface water on roads runs into highway surface water drains, open watercourses, rivers or surface water sewers. The water passes through gullies which have a trap to collect leaves, litter, silt and other detritus to prevent them from causing a blockage in the drainage system. When full, gully traps need to be emptied so they can continue to work efficiently.

Our gully services include regular cleaning contracts and emergency clearance.

Culverts are manmade systems that direct water around or along structures such as railways, roads and bridges. Culverts can vary greatly in size due to varying locations and demands. They play an important part in the management of flood water and can carry large volumes of water.

Culvert cleaning and maintenance services from MTS include CCTV surveys, cleaning and jetting.

We dispose of all waste from interceptors, gullies and culverts responsibly and in compliance with current regulations. All disposal by MTS is fully traceable with a complete audit trail and we always provide the customer with documentation to show that the waste has been disposed of correctly.
