MTS hosts the Rotary Club of Rochester

Eighteen members of the Rochester Rotary Club enjoyed a look behind the scenes at MTS in January.

The group visited the MTS headquarters at Stanley House on the Medway City Estate in Rochester. Hosted by Chris Henderson, MTS Sales Director, the visit started with a presentation on the history of the company and an overview of the work we do.

Following refreshments, the visitors were given a tour of the site. As well as a visit to our onsite workshop where we carry out all our vehicle maintenance and repairs, the group were shown some of the working vehicles including a CCTV survey unit.

Keith Hole, MTS Head of SHEQW, gave a demonstration of the tripod, fall-arrest harnesses and other safety equipment used by our confined space entry crews.

We support a number of clubs, charities and events as part of our work in the local community. MTS was originally founded in Kent and many of the community groups we support are based in the county, but we also support other initiatives that are based in our operating areas. We have a network of depots across the south east and Midlands.

We regularly raise funds for a number of charities through dress-down days, these include Demelza Hospice Care for Children, Jeans for Genes, Breast Cancer Care, Prostate Cancer UK, SHINE, the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal  and the Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.

MTS is proud to sponsor local youth football teams and the annual Medway Dinghy Regatta. As the main sponsor of the annual Gravesend & Rochester area Ploughing Match, we promote the celebration of traditional agricultural skills, crafts and produce.

We are key long-term sponsors of the Southern Water Learn to Swim programme. Over 85 clubs and pools in the south east are involved and up to 35,000 children benefit every year.

We are also proud to sit on Southern Water’s Charity Committee, which nominates the company’s corporate charity (every two years) and regional charities for annual grants.
