We’re delighted to be showcasing our unrivalled services to the water utility industry at Utility Week Live 2018.
With vast experience gained from continuous, daily work for water utility clients, we offer expert support for both planned and reactive works across the sector. We’re currently a Tier One contractor for a number of water utility clients including Southern Water, Severn Trent Water, South East Water and Cappagh Brown Utilities Ltd.
This will be our first appearance at this key UK utilities event since 2015. The focus at this year’s event is on new business models, companies and technologies that are proving disruptive to the UK utility sector.
MTS has long been the leading specialist in innovative and bespoke solutions, including environmentally waste treatment.
Chris Henderson, MTS Sales Director said; “We’re delighted to be highlighting our commitment to setting a new standard of sustainability in the water industry, saving money for our customers and reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill. With over 30 years in the business, we offer expertise and experience coupled with excellent customer service. We’re looking forward to networking with fellow water utilities professionals and innovators at UWL 2018.”
Our commitment to innovation and recycling contributed to Southern Water's achievement of zero waste to landfill.
Only a handful of utilities achieve 100% recycling rates and the MTS in-house waste treatment facility played a key role for Southern Water.
The solid debris that ends up at Southern Water treatment works (such as wet wipes, cotton buds and sanitary items) was creating around 10,000 tonnes of landfill waste every year. This waste is now composted into beneficial soil conditioner at the MTS in-house treatment plant, operated by our sister company CFS (Composting Facilities Services Ltd).
One of our bespoke solutions saved Southern Water £1 million on a single project. We separated and de-watered waste from a storm tank cleaning programme, reducing the volume by 90%. Remaining waste was processed at the CFS facility, sending zero waste to landfill. Watch this project in action.
By avoiding unnecessary tanker journeys and landfill disposal, MTS is setting a new standard of sustainability in the water industry. Our successful combination of Disab industrial vacuum tankers and D:Max screening units at the Long Reach Waste Water Treatment Works has been recognised as best practice by Thames Water.
