We were recently called upon to remove silt and vegetation from a stream and then add shingle to re-model the bed.
We were working with the waterway management specialists Land & Water who led the planning and coordination of the project to clear and re-shape the stream. The works took a total of three weeks.
The stream in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire had become blocked with overgrown vegetation and compacted silt and mud.
Our team used a Disab industrial vacuum tanker to suck up the waste which was then transferred to a Land & Water reception site.
The river bed needed to be reshaped in order to free up the high and low flow channels. The MTS Disab unit vacuumed up shingle to transport to the stream, where the reverse system pumped out the shingle into various locations along the river.
By using the Disab to place the shingle there was no need to use diggers and other machinery which would have risked damage to the river bank.
We also clear lagoons, reed beds, problem foliage on water utility sites and all types of industrial tanks and vessels whether above or below ground.
